Boulder moving by Cadwell Lane football field

Today, with the help of the Countryside Management Service (lending me the use of their winch) we managed to move  a big concrete boulder from the footpath  at Cadwell Lane football field.

This was the last 'concrete' obstacle to widening the footpath for potential wheelchair use.

All that now needs to be done is to make the slope more gentle at the entrance from Grove Road end and we will have a groundwork platform ready to surface the path properly.

I put in a picture of the drainage pipes I laid some time ago to show that if these things are not done 'properly' the run off water from Cadwell lane would simply gouge a channel right across the path ( as it was before the pipes) The hole dug in front of the pipe entrances needs regular clearing as it silts up every time it rains heavily. It is surprising just how much grit and dirt gets washed into the drains when it rains.
